Accommodation

Preferential rates have been secured at the SKYCITY and SKYCITY Grand Hotels. It is strongly recommended that you book your accommodation prior to 1 February 2019 to ensure you gain the negotiated rates. After this date, all remaining rooms will be released and bookings will be subject to hotel availability.

With a designer bathroom and rooms that are simple yet modern, rooms are available in either king or twin configuration.

Premium Room: NZ $324 (includes breakfast for one) per room, per night

Inclusions - Prices are in New Zealand Dollars, GST inclusive and are listed as per room, per night, based on single, twin or double occupancy. A fully cooked breakfast for one (1) person is included per room per night.

Check-in and Check-out - Check-in is from 3pm, check-out is by 11am. Subject to availabiity, an early check-in and/or late check-out may be permitted at your request.

Payment - You will need to provide your credit card details to secure your booking during the online registration process. Full pre-payment of your accommodation will be charged to your credit card at 30 days out from the meeting by SKYCITY. A confirmation email will be sent directly to you at the time of pre-payment from SKYCITY, and a full GST receipt for your accommodation charges will be issued at the completion of your stay.

Cancellations - For any room cancellations made prior to 1 February 2019, no cancellation fees will be incurred. Any accommodation cancellations made after this date will incur a 100% cancellation fee.

SKYCITY from the Airport: Auckland Airport is an easy 45 minute drive away by bus, car or taxi. A typical taxi fare from the airport to SKYCITY will cost between $60 and $70.

If you are travelling by taxi, they are located outside the domestic and international terminals and cost approximately NZ$75 into the city. If you are travelling by car, take the Southern Motorway north, exit at Nelson Street and follow the signs directly to SKYCITY.

Car Parking: The SKYCITY Main Site Car Park is Auckland's biggest Car Park with 1,960 parks accessible from three entries and offers convenient motorway access, full time security and surveillance and well lit maintained facilities.

Climate: Auckland temperatures range from 20 to 30 degrees Celsius during the warmer seasons (December to March). We would recommend a light jacket, and layers as the evenings may turn cooler and Auckland can experience four seasons in one day!

Dress Code: The dress code for the conference sessions is smart-casual.

Driving: In New Zealand all drivers, including visitors from other countries, must carry their licence or permit at all times when driving. You will only be able to drive the same type of vehicles you are licensed to drive in your home country. The common legal age to rent a car in New Zealand is 21 years.

Electricity: 240 volts, 50 hertz, with Australia/New Zealand pattern three-pin sockets.

Emergency Services: 111 is the emergency number for Police, Fire and Ambulance.

Good and Services Tax (GST): New Zealand has a 15% goods and services tax. Overseas visitors cannot claim this back. Some stores may waive GST if you show onward or return air tickets, or international shipment is arranged.

Health: No vaccination certificates are required. Public and private hospitals provide a high standard of treatment and care. Medical services are not free to visitors. Health insurance is recommended.

Insurance: ARGANZ and the conference managers will not accept any liability for losses associated with the meeting. Delegates are advised to arrange their own comprehensive travel and medical insurance, including insurance for personal possessions and financial loss due to cancellation or postponement of the meeting.

Language: The official language of the meeting is English. Translation facilities will not be provided.

Mobile Telephones: New Zealand operates on a 900 or 1800 MHz network, as do most countries except Canada and USA. Mobile telephones from these countries will not operate in New Zealand. You can buy or rent a New Zealand compatible phone or SIM card upon arrival.

Postal Services: You can buy stamps and post items at Post Shops. Stamps can also be purchased from stationers. Look for red, black and white post boxes to post letters.

Shopping: Normal shopping hours from Monday to Friday are from 9am till 5pm. Some shops are open late on Thursday and Friday till 9pm. On Saturday and Sunday most shopping malls are open normal shopping hours.

Trading Banks: Monday to Friday 9am till 4.30pm.

Telephone Directory Services: Most phone boxes require a phone card. These can be bought at convenience stores and service stations. Dial 018 for local directory assistance or 0172 for international directory assistance.

Time Zone: New Zealand Standard Time is 12 hours ahead of Greenwich Mean Time (GMT). Daylight saving time (an advance of one hour per day) is observed from the end of September until early April.

Tipping and Service Charges: Tipping is not expected, but you may wish to tip for extra-special service or kindness.

Visas: Currently travellers from more than 50 countries do not require a visitor’s visa for stays of less than three months. For further information about visas please visit www.immigration.govt.nz. It is the policy of the meeting NOT to supply an “invitation letter”. Upon payment of registration fees, each delegate receives a registration confirmation letter and receipt of payment.
